Due to increasing attendance on Saturdays we are going to split the attendance times for Groups 1 and 2. Both groups will continue to run each week but Group 1 will run from 8 to 9.30am and Group 2 from 9.30 to 11am. Session cost for these groups will be £5. Group 3 will continue as previously, session cost £10.
Group 2 riders, please sign on from 9am and get ready for a 9.15 roller warm up and then onto the track for 9.30. For riders new to rollers, the warm up will be run by a coach.
Saturday track cancellations and circuit sessions
Due to other events at the velodrome there will be no club sessions on Saturdays November 11/18/25 and December 2. We will be running road sessions instead at the Tameside cycle circuit. This is a closed (traffic free) tarmac circuit in Ashton under Lyne (OL7 9HG). The sessions are aimed at Saturday riders and for those new to circuits there will be a beginners group. You will need to bring a suitable road bike and there will be a bike check before the session. Bring a waterproof top, sessions continue when it rains!
To help plan the sessions it would be useful if you could let me know if you are likely to attend and any preferences for dates – November 11/18/25/December 2, 11am – 1pm, £5. Dates will be confirmed next month.

Chimp management workshop
Tim Buckle (former GB coach and squad member) will be running a chimp management workshop for us on Thursday 16th November, 7-9pm at the velodrome (BMX meeting rooms). Chimp management is a powerful mind management model that was developed by Dr Steve Peters and has helped support the success of the GB Olympic squad and in many other sports. The workshop aim is to help riders to get the best out of themselves.
Tim now works for Chimp Management Ltd and is giving his time free to raise funds for#rideforcharlie. This is a memorial fund, set up by the parents of the late Charlie Craig. Charlie was a very successful young cyclist who died in his sleep earlier this year and the fund aims to provide support to young off road cyclists who want to succeed in cycling as Charlie did. There will be a collection at the workshop and all contributions will go to #rideforcharlie
Club bike register
We’re looking for volunteers to update our club bike register. We have a stock of track bikes which we loan to members so they can start racing before they get their own track bike. Updating the register will involve taking a photo and recording frame numbers and can be done at Saturday and Wednesday sessions. Please let me know if you are able to help and which session you could do.
Regards,
Tim Ferguson
Club Secretary
